GSS will be hiring once again for the positions mentioned below in the coming fall of 2011.GSS needs YOU to make life at BI as a master student even better! GSS is hiring board members for academic school year 2011/2012 for the positions:

 

  • Poject Manager
  • Arrangements Manager
  • Sponsorship Manager

PROJECT MANAGER:

 

The Project Manager position entails organization and implementation of specific projects throughout the year as well as assisting the Event Manager and potentially other board members in their project implementation. However, this position involves a large amount of personal discretion in terms of which and how many projects to be involved in. There is much room for creative thinking and we are always open to new suggestions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan events and projects according to the deadlines
  • Work closely with GSS Communication Manager by passing on the event details early to allow time for posters and other forms of communication
  • Evaluate events upon completion by filling out and submitting an Event/Project Report
  • Assist the Event Manager and other board members when necessary in planning and implementing events and projects
  • Assist in communicating events throughout the student body

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong initiative and creative thinking
  • Positive attitude to change
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Good team-work skills
  • Norwegian is an advantage, although not necessary

ARRANGEMENTS MANAGER:

 

The Arrangements Manager position entails organization and preparation for the various social events organized throughout the year. The aim of these is to integrate students into the social activities at the BI Norwegian School of Management, create a pleasant social environment for interaction, build friendships and acquire contacts. It involves contacting venues and key people for the booking of locations, negotiation of discounts and special offers, as well as creative input on the social events agenda and its consequent evaluation and modification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan  and assist the Events AManger with the social events according to the deadlines
  • Work closely with GSS Communication Manager by passing on the event details early to allow time for posters and other forms of communication
  • Provide constructive critique and input as to possible improvements and modifications of the events, or the social events agenda
  • Assist in communicating events throughout the student body

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Be a "people person", thrive on social interaction and communication
  • Familiarity with Oslo is an asset, although not necessary
  • Positive attitude to changes and creative ideas
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Good team-work skills
  • Ability to delegate tasks
  • Norwegian is an advantage, although not necessary

SPONSORSHIP MANAGER

 

The Sponsorship Manager is responsible for commercializing GSS. The purpose of this role is to secure one or more corporate sponsors per school year, in order to acquire additional resources that can be put towards GSS events and projects.

Communication is essential in this role, as the Sponsorship Manager role needs to communicate with different stakeholders, including the GSS board, SBIO, and potential sponsors. This position requires strong initiative and “out-of-the-box” thinking in order to detect sponsorship opportunities within GSS and approach prospective sponsors about collaboration.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong initiative and creative thinking
  • Great communication skills, both written and oral, preferably in Norwegian
  • Good professional network a plus

FINANCIAL MANAGER

Each school year, money is given to GSS by the Student Union to finance our activities. The GSS board divides this budget among the planned events and projects for the upcoming school year. The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing this budget and keeping in close contact with Økonomigruppen on the status of our spending.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure actual spending does not exceed budget. Follow up with board members on actual and planned spending for their events/projects. Provide regular budget updates for the board.
  • Document all transactions made and keep a diary of the continuous cash flow. Provide both to Økonomigruppen.
  • Manage all bank account transfers and withdrawals (e.g., to pay invoices, reimburse board member expenses).
 
Desired Qualifications:
  • Interest in financial/budget management
  • Strong attention to detail

Please Note: This position is currently avaliable only on temporary basis and the candidate selected will have a tenure of six months, that is until December. While we cannot guarantee this, the successful candidate may have the possiblity of having an extension of the tenure later.
